The History of George's Liquor
George's Liquor was founded by George Rasch, who gave the store its proper and well-known name. The liquor license for George's was received on September 21, 1972. The store changed owners in '74 and again in '78, 80, and finally to the current owner, Connie Jane Waters, in 1983, who has held the liquor license ever since.
When Ms. Waters came into ownership of George's, there were only three employees and one manager in a small store on Malcolm Avenue (the store was originally located on Beech Street). In 2005, the store went from a 1,000 square-foot store to an 8,000 square-foot warehouse with a 700 square-foot wine room, now carrying an estimated 1,000 different types and sizes of wine and wine products. Since the store's expansion, George's has gained another 8 employees and two more managers.
Now, George's Liquor offers one of the largest selections of wine, beer, and liquor in Northeast Arkansas, as well as amazing customer service. George's Liquor cares about its customers and makes an effort to provide the widest selection and the best price on goods, which is part of what makes us a great place to stop by on the weekend.
